Ivory takes place in July of 1582, during the height of Japan’s warring states period. It is the story of two masterless samurai and their quest to meet the legendary warlord, Oda Nobunaga.

Red Crow and Scarlet Dove gained infamy as pirates who raided towns in China and Korea during the early 1570’s. When competition from Chinese pirates grew to the point of being unmanageable, they turned back to their home soil of Japan as the leaders of a group of bandits raiding some of the more well-traveled roads. Most of their prey were military convoys carrying supplies between fiefdoms, but years of fighting all over Asia made them more than a match for their guards.

Their luck finally ended when some of their scouts assaulted a Takeda convoy too close to its castle. The Takeda army responded quickly and followed the bandits back to their base, where Red Crow and Scarlet Dove were taken prisoner. Faced with the destruction of their band and the threat of death, both agreed to serve the Takeda clan. Despite years of service, Red Crow and Scarlet Dove have not lost their bandit guile, and it is this unconventional strategy that make them an asset to the Takeda.
