The world has finally achieved Utopia. All 7 continents bow to the One World Nation, war is nonexistent, and the environment is the healthiest it’s been since the Mesozoic Era. Still, social ills plague society as human beings find themselves living in a world that no longer values their accomplishments. Ever since the Anomalous Resurrection Cycle phenomenon began, the dead have started to rise as god-like beings. True to human nature, these “ARCs” are Christ and Cthulhu in equal measure. It is through their influence that humanity entered a golden age, albeit at the cost of its spirit.

Ratt Mason was just another runaway on the streets of Valley City, a lost boy desperate for shelter. His broken home life, poor self-esteem, and a birth defect that left him with only 8 toes marked Ratt as an easy victim for street predators. After being mugged on his first night, Ratt quickly learned to make friends with a fellow street kid, the recently homeless Brian Osley. Their lives took a violent turn, however, when the Universal Church of Glass offered them a bed for the night.

The church was, in fact, a cult dedicated to the genderless ARC known as Glass. Glass decried sexual intercourse as the epitome of death-worship and demanded its followers “make themselves whole” by removing their reproductive organs. The same fate would have befallen Ratt and Brian were it not for the intervention of the Sons of Nowhere, a squad of street kids-turned-government agents dedicated to eliminating psychotic ARCs. Out of the two, Ratt was selected for recruitment into the program. With the help of a mysterious temple within the program’s compound, Ratt died and rose again as a low-level ARC.

At first, the program seemed to provide everything Ratt’s life was missing. He had food, a place to stay, a stipend, and even friends. But when he was forced to torture Brian as a test of loyalty, Ratt learned the true purpose of the Sons of Nowhere. They were not only hunters of Lovecraftian renegade ARCs, but the unseen enforcers of the One World Nation’s political stability. If an individual or organization needed to disappear and the government could not be implicated, the Sons of Nowhere were assigned the task.

The only thing on Ratt’s mind was escape, but he soon learned that fleeing a death squad with worldwide jurisdiction is no easy task. With all other options exhausted, Ratt embarked on a covert crusade to convince his fellow Sons of Nowhere to join him in a mutiny against the very program that took them in when the rest of the world abandoned them.
